Stalling

For some reason, I just can’t seem to get into my second NaNoWriMo book.  I’ve never had such a hard time getting into a book.  Usually I just sit at the computer and the story writes itself.  Did I use up my monthly allotment of creativity when I wrote my first NaNoWriMo book?

Honestly, I’ve been stalling.  I’ve been doing all sorts of other stuff, and not writing my book.  Granted, some of it needs to be done (looking for work, cleaning the house, making dinner, etc.) but a lot of it doesn’t.

Yesterday, I spent HOURS trying to find a CD with music which would help inspire me.  Um… I also… did some… other shopping.  It wasn’t planned, I swear!  It was just like I didn’t want to go home and write.

Today, I cleaned the garage.  Seriously.  It’s gotten so bad that I actually spent hours in the cold, tossing decades worth of trash.  Granted, I kinda needed to get it done (my city has a Fall Cleanup where you can get rid of up to 10 containers of garbage, which was today).  And it felt good to do it (my uncle’s disapproving look still burns in my brain from the last time he visited my garage).  There still is a lot to do out there, but I got rid of a lot of trash which shouldn’t have come with us for any of the last four moves.

And now I sit here, blogging, not writing my book.  I might do dishes next.

Nah – let’s not get silly!  I’d much rather struggle with my book than wash dishes (we don’t have a dishwasher).

Wait!  I haven’t showered yet!  I can go do that!
